The wedding was moved to Saturday the 9th as mark of respect to the Pope and also to facilitate the royal representative ( Prince Charles ) attendance to the funeral of the Pontiff in Rome.

Senior police officers visited Clarence House to review security arrangements with the Prince’s official , the wedding ceremony has been switched from Windsor Castle to the local Guildhall register office. Plans to wed in Windsor Castle were abandoned because the royal residence did not have a current licence, on application it emerged that a licence for the couple would also enable anyone to marry at the Castle within the next three years

Thames Valley police did secure the route between the castle and the Guildhall . Police snipers will be positioned on rooftops and helicopters will keep a close look from above . The security costs could be as much as £1million .

The Government stated that Camilla Parker Bowles will become Queen when Prince Charles succeeds to the throne . Only new laws in Britain and in 16 other countries where the British monarch is head of state could stop it happening.

The other Countries are: Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the Cook Islands, Bahamas, St Kitts & Nevis, Belize, St Lucia, Jamaica, Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, Solomon Islands, Grenada, St Vincent & The Grenadines... But....read on..

Camilla Parker Bowles does not want the title of Queen after Prince Charles becomes king.

Paddy Harverson, communications secretary for Charles' office stated
"The implication of some of media reporting is that Mrs. Parker Bowles would have to be called queen unless there is legislation," Harverson said. "This is incorrect and not in accordance with the government's advice. Mrs. Parker Bowles can, as she wishes, be referred to as Princess Consort, rather than queen, without legislation."

Clarence House ( Royal Residence and PR) said:
"The advice we have is that the wife of the King is known as Queen only by convention not legal statute".

However, and this seems to be the emerging view, iit is possible for the Duchess of Cornwall to choose to be known as the Princess Consort rather than Queen.

"The Duke of Edinburgh and I are very happy that the Prince of Wales and Mrs. Parker Bowles are to marry," Elizabeth said in a statement. "We have given them our warmest good wishes for their future together."

When Charles becomes king, Camilla will be known as the princess consort , not Queen Camilla

Because they are both divorcés and Camilla's husband is still living , the couple have chosen to forgo a church service in favor of a civil union. Princes Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are to honeymoon at a historic lodge in the grounds of the royal family's Birkhall Balmoral estate in central Scotland.

In recent years the Queen Mother allowed Prince Charles to stay there with Camilla Parker-Bowles safely away from the glare of the cameras.

Charles and Camilla first meeting
Prince Charles first met Camilla at a polo match in Windsor in the early 1970s. Their brief romance ended in late 1972 when the prince was called left England to join the navy. Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973.

Charles and Camilla kept up contact though the years , the special and not so secretive friendship never really broke up, not even after Charles' 1981 marriage to Lady Diana.
Charles and Camilla at the Ritz
June 29, 1994: In a TV documentary, Charles says he had committed adultery after the marriage broke down, "us both having tried." Interviewer Jonathan Dimbleby later identified Parker Bowles as the other woman.
Seven months later Camilla was divorced.

It was not until February 1996 :that Lady Diana agrees to divorce which was finalized in August of the same year.

August 31st 1997 was a sad day for Charles, his family and the whole of Britain ,the much loved Lady Diana was killed in car accident in Paris . The accident was and remains surrounded by mistery with unprovened and at times far fetched theories .

It wasn't until two years later after dodging the paparazzi lenses for decades that on the 28th of January 1999 Charles and Camilla made their first public appearance together, it was at a private 50th birthday party at the Ritz Hotel in London. This was the long awaited signal that Camilla would and should be accepted as his partner .

On the 3rd of June 2000, Charles organized a birthday lunch at Windsor Castle for the 60th birthday of ex-King Constantine of Greece, it was for up to 30 members of the Royal Family, this time Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth would be present, Camilla was also invited, the relationship was recognized and the path was laid for what five years later would materialize as Charles second wedding .

To the British people prince Charles is more then just a 'distant' Royal figure, he is well and truely loved by so many, it is fair to say that on the wedding day the whole of the nation will be wishing him and Camilla the realization of this long overdue happiness.

PUBLIC OPINION - In 2004, a Populus poll showed that Britons support Prince Charles marrying Camilla Parker Bowles. 32% said they would support Charles if he remarried, while 29% were opposed 38% - said they did not care, 2% had no opinion.

RELIGION - Some evident controversy for the marriage exist within the Anglican religious circles, mrs Parker Bowles is divorced and her former husband is still alive, when prince Charles became king, he would assume the role of supreme governor of the Church of England, but a few high ranking Anglican religious figures are still very much opposed to the remarriage of divorcees.
